You know what it’s like – you finally get into a new band and think ‘I’d quite like that on vinyl’, only to stumble over the fact that everyone else has been into them for ages and now there’s no LPs left.
Well Frank Ocean fans new and old, it has been confirmed that ‘Blonde’ is getting a re-do, so you can alter your watchlists on Discogs accordingly. Of course, the first round of ‘Blonde’ records was a super limited run, and only available via participating Record Store Day outlets in 2016. And since then, the swine who flog things on eBay for too much money because they could be bothered queueing up in the first place.
£200 for a Frank Ocean album? An album that, really, isn’t wall-to-wall classics even if the good bits of it are just about as good as music gets. What a frustrating but immensely talented artist.
With a slow release output, it’s obvious that this will be a handsome little money earner for Ocean, but nothing to get mad about, because we the people who like to buy albums, get do to the thing we like the most. It buys him a bit of time before he has to release something new eh? And there’s no official ‘Channel Orange’ vinyl either if he needs a couple of extra quid (although there are some decent bootlegs out there, if you know where to look).
The news was shared on Instagram, where it was conveyed what was going to be happening. Basically, it’ll be a 2xLP gatefold affair, and there’ll be other bits too that are quite pricey, honestly. Them’s the breaks. That’s what we get for streaming everyone’s music – artists have to find a way of making a buck or two, so they don’t have to get admin jobs.
That might explain why Frank Ocean was recently selling a diamond covered cock-ring for $25k. And no, we’re not making that up. You can ruin your own search history to find out more, just like we did. It is called the ‘XXXL H-Bone Ring with Stones’ and is “hand made of 18 karat yellow gold with an array of channel set princess-cut diamonds and layers that express a pixelated bone or an H-motif, finished with a high polish.”
Sounds incredibly comfortable.
