Obviously, Gruff Rhys is a legend. A really pleasant legend at that. Whether he’s with the Super Furry Animals (easily one of the most underrated bands who ever lived) or solo, Gruff has an uncanny knack for a sugary melody, but always cut with something psychedelic and unusual.
There’s no-one quite like him.
And now, there’s a new song from him which is taken from a film which has Rebel Wilson in it, which is pretty big news isn’t it? His faraway baritone (is it a baritone? It’s lovely whatever it is) is present and correct, and the song reveals itself to a cascading, Pepperlandian thing which is very, very lovely indeed.
There’ll be vinyl too. We’re going to trust that you know how to use the internet well enough by now to go and do a smidge of research if you want to buy it. Our advice is to visit Gruff Rhys’ Instagram page and see what he’s said. While you’re there, you can have a look at his absurdly handsome face.
It’s a win win.
