There’s few things as satisfying as Pusha T saying ‘YERGHK!’ in a track. He’s a venomous MC alright and sharp as a tack. He’s also quite the businessman, coming up with the ‘I’m Lovin’ It’ for McDonald’s and also, heading up the G.O.O.D. Music label. Of course, that’d be Kanye West’s record label there. Now, it’s worth pointing out as a quick aside that Kanye goes by the name of Ye now, but honestly, us getting his name wrong isn’t as bad as his views on Jewish people, so he can go and whistle.
Perhaps related to that, King Push has revealed in an interview with XXL that he’s resigned as the president of the label. When directly asked if he was still the honcho over there, he said “No, I’m not.” That’s pretty direct isn’t it?
Why? Is it because Kanye West went off the deep-end and absolutely undid all that good work of his by saying a lot of terrible stuff?
“He’s not speaking to me now,” Pusha T said of West in the XXL interview. “If you ain’t with it, you ain’t down. And I ain’t with it. I’m not budging on that. I’m not with it. I heard about this new stuff [on InfoWars]. I don’t know. It’s something that just sort of tells me he’s not well, at the same time. I will say that. It’s going to places where it’s no way to move around it.”
If you’ve been living in an underground bunker with no WiFi for the past year or two, Kanye West has been displaying some very troubling views. It started off with some MAGA caps, to which some decried ‘oh god, they’re all saying us MAGA folk are racist now! Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous?!’, before Kanye West appeared on InfoWars praising Hitler and actual Nazis.
Still, was Kanye West just being shocking and provocative? No. He went to the interview with a fella called Nicholas J. Fuentes who is a card carrying white supremacist, antisemite, and Holocaust denier. Like the saying goes, if you’re sat at a table with two Nazis, there’s three Nazis sat at that table.
But we’re talking about Pusha T here, and soon enough, he’s going to be incredibly bored talking about someone else’s stupid shit. Last month, Push formally disavowed West while talking to the LA Times: “It’s definitely affected me. It’s been disappointing. As a Black man in America, there is no room for bigotry or hate speech. So yeah. It’s been very disappointing, let’s talk straight.”
Pusha won’t be short of admirers when it comes to providing production to his verses, so he’ll be fine, no doubt. As for Kanye West? Fuck Kanye West. There’s plenty of bipolar people off their meds out there who haven’t gone full fash, so fuck ’em.
