Grace Jones is going to be the headliner of the next Bluedot festival, and that’s a great thing. Grace Jones should be headlining more festivals frankly.
Of course, she curated Meltdown in ’22, but this time she’ll get to play in front of a load of devotees doing balloons and pills and that just feels correct, all under the watchful eye of the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank Observatory in the summer. And if you’re interested, Roisin Murphy will be there, as will Pavement, Leftfield, Beak>, CMAT, The Radiophonic Workshop, Snapped Ankles, TVAM, Annie Mac, Dry Cleaning, and loads loads more.
See the line-up here.
Away from the music, there’s comedy (Nish Kumar for one) and science chat for the comedowns, featuring Sky at Night’s Chris Lintott and Maggie Aderin-Pocock, climate change researcher Mike Berners-Lee, and more.
Bluedot will take place at the Cheshire observatory from 20 to 23 July.
