This reeks of an advertorial, but it isn’t – who would sponsor this swill? It is about a brand partnership, but it’s of note to us because it’s kinda funny… and we’ll tell you why.
Baileys – the booze cream drink – are teaming up with the Eurovision Song Contest and they say that they’re “bringing some extra sweetness to the world’s biggest live music event”, which is cute copy.
Why is it funny? Well, it’s an open secret in Eurovision circles that during his time as host of the show, Terry Wogan would drink pints of Baileys, which is why the further you got into the show, the more wayward his commentary would get. Now, Graham Norton strikes us as a wine man, but he’ll definitely have a glass or two of the liqueur if there’s a load going begging.
That’s it. That’s all we’ve got to say on the matter, apart from the fact that this year’s show will be held in Liverpool after the UK finished second behind Ukraine who of course, can’t host because of the Russian invasion.
Liverpool is a great choice isn’t it? Lasses with big hair and falsies and a city with a rich pop culture. Lovely stuff.
