DRAKE SEEMINGLY GOADS KANYE WITH KIM SAMPLE AND WE’RE SO TIRED

Kanye West is game for dunking on at every opportunity, which in part is richly deserved, but also really depressing. The man needs to be accountable for the things he says and does, but jesus, it’s rotten watching someone be so very ill in public. With that, along comes cringebag no.1, Drake.

He shared a preview of a new song which samples Ye’s ex Kim Kardashian, and honestly, the whole thing should make you sigh and roll your eyes.

After getting his arse thoroughly handed to him by Pusha T in the last round of this GOOD Music/OVO beef, to all intents and purposes, it really does look like Drake has waiting for King Push to leave the Kanye camp before poking the bear again. It’s not even timely is it? It feels like we’ve all moved on from this and we’d all like to get on with having a good time, rather than watching two very wealthy grown-ups say yaa boo to each other.

So what’s the sample? Well Drake has used a clip from Kim talking to her moth Kris Jenner, where she discusses her decision to separate from Kanye: “I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that.”

As you can hear, it’s hardly vintage Drake, with a thin beat over some navel gazing. The artwork looks like Drake and Kim wearing motorcycle helmets and, sincerely, there’s no rush of adrenaline off the back of this song that you get when there’s some serious beef going around.

We’re used to people pulling up outside people’s houses to shoot a quick video from an iPhone, or in the case of Pusha, announcing to everyone that you have a secret child, YEUCK!

It’s easy to not take sides in beef mode, preferring to have the whole thing play out like WWE and see what licks two artists can give each other. However, this one ain’t it chief. This is so soul-sappingly wearisome that we kinda hope Drake will just stop making music for a while and piss off and make a heist movie or something.

Hip Hop has definitely moved into a party & bullshit territory lately and we’re here for that. We’ve put up with SadBoi TrapLite for too long now. Get your fingers out superstars – this whole thing is making us tired and irritated.
