Being a support act on a tour must be a strange experience. Imagine you’re playing to a hundred people in a pub, and then some stadium sized band decides to take you on the road.
Quite the leap, and with non of the fame.
Well, here’s an old video from the BBC Archives concerning exactly that.
What’s particularly interesting is that, almost right across the board, our long held belief that women are actually the people who make music go around is backed up, as its the girls talking about watching the support acts in a bid to find new tunes to love, and the lads who are just there to get drunk.
Anyway, this is a fun snapshot of 80s Britain, complete with brown suits, smoking indoors, and a lovely chat with Tears for Fears on a sofa.
