Pip Blom are cool. We liked that album they did. It might have been the last one. They may have done one since then, we don’t know. It doesn’t matter too much because when you hear someone say that a band is cool, you should go and check them out. Stop pretending you’re too busy to check these things – that’s super uncool.
If you’re sat on the toilet reading this and just want to read some words, then Pip Blom are a guitar band with strong pop sensibilities and sometimes, an air of melancholy in there. They’re Dutch, if you want to fee a bit more metropolitan. They have a new LP out in October called ‘Bobbie’, and in other news, it features seemingly all-round good guy and big pop fan, Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos.
You’d think that we’d research what the previous releases were called wouldn’t you, given that we’ve done the research on this new record? This breaking the fourth wall schtick is pretty tiresome too, isn’t it?
Pip Blom say: “The nice thing about working with Alex, besides the fact that the atmosphere was really good, was that we both had quite different perspectives. Whereas I am a bit more rock by nature, Alex is a lot funkier. And that turned out to be the perfect addition for this song, both in the verses and completely in the chorus. Never before has such a funky Pip Blom song appeared, and we all absolutely love it.”
Have a listen.
