Hey Tom Waits fans! Newly remastered bits from the gravel voiced master and the whole thing has been personally overseen by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, according to the press release we’re copying from.
We’re looking at the period between ’83 and ’93, which contains some real hot stuff. They’ll be reissued on vinyl, and you’ll be able to listen anew to ‘Swordfishtrombones’, ‘Rain Dogs’, ‘Franks Wild Years’ from 1st September, then on 6th October, you’ll get firm fave ‘Bone Machine’ and ‘The Black Rider’.
For streaming heads, they’re already available so go get stuck in immediately before coughing up for the LPs!
The vinyl will be on 180 gram vinyl in classic black or various colourways. They’ll also be on CD too. The limited edition colour variants will be available exclusively via TomWaits.com and you can pre-order them if you’re giddy.
For the nerds amongst you, all the LPs were mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering under the guidance of Waits’ longtime audio engineer, Karl Derfler, sourced from the original EQ’ed ½” production master tapes and all that good stuff.
Bellman painstakingly transferred the tapes and then remastered the audio in high resolution 192 kHz/24-bit and then the lacquers were cut by AlexAbrash at AA Mastering. In some instances, some of these LPs were never released outside of Europe, so rejoice if you live in a non-European country!
If you want a tip-off from us, go straight to ‘Bone Machine’ and see how Waits went from a blues-guy to someone who make junkyard orchestrations and abstract rock ‘n’ roll. It’s magical, experimental, noisy good stuff!
