LIZZO DROPPED BY SUPERBOWL? / NFL SUDDENLY CARE

We’ve not written about That Lizzo Story, because honestly, it all feels a bit like we’d be turning ourselves into a celebrity gossip site if we did. However, it’s a slow news day today.

If you’ve missed it, effectively, go and look it up. Trigger warning though – it’s a pretty grim tale and involves some sexual harassment allegations and a whole host of nasty sounding stuff. Lizzo has denied it. There’s been counter claims. It’s a whole stew.

Now, Lizzo has been lined-up for a Super Bowl halftime show and it makes sense that she would be, as she puts on quite the show, pulling her flute out and being incredible extrovert and all that. The Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show would be a feather in her cap, no question. However, rumours suggest that she’s been crossed off a list.

Of course, the NFL have a chequered history when it comes to taking such matters seriously, so y’know, feel free to roll your eyes fully backwards into your skull. Honestly – a player is more likely to get a lengthy suspension for gambling than they are serious things like this.

Anyway, Crystal Williams, Noelle Rodriguez, and Arianna Davis have filed a lawsuit and it’s all serious and an inside for the NFL reckons that this has resulted in Lizzo having her name removed from the hat: “If she speaks out, her statements are shredded. If she stays quiet, she is called a coward. Either way, it does not appear at this moment that she can recover from this,” the NFL source relayed.

Lizzo said: “These sensationalised stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behaviour on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional. As an artist I have always been very passionate about what I do. I take my music and my performances seriously because at the end of the day I only want to put out the best art that represents me and my fans.”

“With passion comes hard work and high standards. Sometimes I have to make hard decisions but it’s never my intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team.”

The dancers appeared on US TV, with Williams saying: “I’m honestly mind blown at the hypocrisy just of everything that you stand for. You’re contradicting right before our very eyes.”

Meanwhile, a report on the NFL’s handling of their players who have been accused of domestic violence were found to be ‘negligible’.

Go figure.
