Hans Zimmer has been made a co-owner of BBC Maida Vale Studios and, we can’t lie, we’re only writing about it because we want to say something else which is related.
The BBC sold the historic venue which has been in operation since the ’30s, which has hosted The Beatles, Bowie, Dusty and you know all this – we’re just writing about all this as a ruse really, because we want to mention something else. Don’t worry. We’re getting to it. You might already know it, but it doesn’t matter.
The space was also the home to the brilliant and groundbreaking BBC Radiophonic Workshop too, which was a pioneer of electronic music and so much more.
Hans and his co-owners want to keep Maida Vale a recording space, but also want to give it a bit of TLC, as well as including a non-profit educational facility within it. That’s nice isn’t it?
Anyway, we just wanted to say that Hans Zimmer is a legendary movie music guy and has a wildly glittering career, but we just love the fact that, when it comes down to it, to us, he’ll always be the guy that did the theme tune for ’80s gameshow Going For Gold.
