Peru is responsible for some of the greatest psychedelic music ever recorded – much of it based in a love of The Beatles and Paul McCartney. However, for fans of heavier stuff, you need to get on Tarkus and fast!
Munster Records (ever brilliant) have reissued the group’s sole LP, which has influences of Black Sabbath, Zep, heavy prog and all that good stuff.
Tarkus recorded their LP between April and May ’72, unsupervised by their label MAG, and as they were more interested in the pop end of psychedelic music, it was just as well. Tarkus disbanded that same year, before their first concert, but they left a killer, hairy rock LP that is well worth your time in 2023.
