Phoenix AZ’s Holy Fawn make music which is hard to pinpoint. Variously, it’s been referred to as ‘doomgaze’, ‘post-black metal’, and other heavy things. It’s a bit shoegazey, for sure, but harder. And weirder [non-derogatory]. It’s tremendously brain frying, which is always fun to do to yourself.
Well, they have a new track out called ‘Glóandi’ and honestly, on first listen, we felt like someone had dissolved our bodies in a bathtub after a night got weird. Not in a bad way either.
Good luck to any writer reviewing their next full length release and trying not to sound like a pretentious prick, because they’ll be reaching for big ideas whole Holy Fawn defy the usual pointers. Cool stuff.
