The 2024 Grammy nominations have been announced. Awards ceremonies suck, we know, we know.
But honestly, more than ever, recent ceremonies gave seemed so wildly out of step with what people are listening to, and looking at this year’s Grammy nominations, we’re insert shrug emoji here.
For starters – record of the year has the very likeable Jon Baptiste, but wasn’t it averagely received and didn’t break any records in sales?
Billie Eilish hasn’t really had the zeitgeist has she? Genuine question. We can’t remember it, but it’s a big ol’ world and it might have happened.
Let’s have a look at some of the categories because we can’t be bothered cutting and pasting them all out.
It’s inevitably a tussle between SZA, boygenius, Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. Fair enough. At least it’s not a sausagefest, we guess.
You decide. It doesn’t feel like something worth tuning in for does it?
