WORDS ABOUT MUSIC + POP CULTURE

WE RESERVE JUDGEMENT ON NEW AMY WINEHOUSE FLICK

Listen, we love a film about a musician but we know they’re not all good. We’ll watch them regardless, because we’re dorks like that. We’re reserving judgement until we’ve seen the whole thing, but there’s a new biopic about Amy Winehouse, but initially, it feels a bit weird.

It’s called ‘Back To Black’ (they chickened out on calling it ‘Fuck Me Pumps’, obvs) and the trailer for it has landed.

The flick has been directed by Sam Taylor Johnson, and we recognise their name but can’t think where from, because we don’t store movie information like we do music info. A John Lennon related thing was it? We could look it up, but we’ll assume you’re yelling the answer in your head at us, and that’s good enough for now.

It stars Marisa Abela, who does a good likeness of Amy’s speaking voice, and apparently, it follows Winehouse from a budding singer in the small clubs to troubled star.

It’s been made with the blessing of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which is nice. Have a look for yourselves.
