Never mind Tay Tay announcing a new LP – we can ignored that as everyone has already talked it to death already. We’re more interested in the imminent music from the mighty Kacey Musgraves.
She’s been making a slow-melting psychedelic country music since her utterly fabulous ‘Golden Hour’ album (yes, that wasn’t her debut, but the other stuff wasn’t psychedelic – keep up), and the underrated but looking like it’s being shoved under a rug divorce LP ‘Star-Crossed’. Her version of country, when on form, has the twinkle of someone microdosing on magic mushroom – we’re not talking about fuzz guitar psych, but a shimmering headiness that makes her so special.
You may recognise a similar ingredient in the music of Weyes Blood too – somehow simultaneously of the earth, but cosmic too! It’s wonderful.
There’s an image which might be the LP cover, it might not. We’re sharing it either way because it’s a beaut of a photo, Kacey lying naked in a field somewhere, and the graphic features as her profile pic

It looks like the next album from Kacey is going to be a return to what she does best, and there’s a teaser (below) which is very cool indeed. The earth splitting, golden orbs, geese, nice frocks – it’s all shaping up rather nicely and we’ve been ready for some new music from Musgraves for a while now!
At the close of the clip, “my Saturn has returned.” Very nice. That doesn’t seem to be the name of the new LP though, and fans have been poring over the details and it looks like it’ll be called ‘Deeper Well’.
She’s timed it well, because if she could do with a bit of healing, then so can we.
