Kim Gordon is cool and she’s making an unholy racket with her new single ‘I’m A Man’. If you’re looking for classic Sonic Youth, we don’t think you’re going to find it here – it reminds us a little of Atari Teenage Riot, in slo-mo. Lovely stuff.
There’s going to be a new LP out called ‘The Collective’ in March, and she’s worked with Justin Raisen (who has worked with Yves Tumour, Lil Yachty, Charlie XCX, John Cale and more) and you can actively hear in ‘I’m A Man’ that Gordon isn’t particularly interested in making heritage punk music, which is surely what punk is all about.
Make noise, look forward.
A press release we received said: “The album advances their joint world building, with Raisin’s damaged, blown out dub and trap constructions playing the foil to Gordon’s intuitive word collages and hooky mantras, which conjure communication, commercial sublimation, and sensory overload.”
Press releases are funny things aren’t they? Anyway, press play – that’ll tell you everything you need to know.
