HEAVY ’84 BOOGIE

When Mr Bongo say they’ve got a record in and describe it as “a heavy Boogie-Funk gem from 1984”, your ears should really prick up. That track is ‘Take A Chance’ by Marshall Titus (re-issued by Peoples Potential Unlimited), and it slaps.

If you’re into super hot, sleazy ’80s disco that’s got a whiff of the Rick James campness to it, you’re in for a real treat. He also looks like a million bucks on the cover too, but you’ll have to check Mr Bongo’s store here for that, where you can land a 45 of it while you’re there. Or just look at the top of this article, obvs, but do play along.

Titus was known for being a finalist in hit TV show, ‘Star Search’, but none of this matters because this is, unavoidably, a massive bop. A must have for anyone playing sweet DJ sets, for real.
