WORDS ABOUT MUSIC + POP CULTURE

BOOK: LATIN WOMEN’S INFLUENCE, ELECTRONICALLY

There’s a book coming out real soon that looks super interesting. We’re always in the market for learning something new, because who on earth can possibly know everything when it comes to music?

The book looks at the pioneers of electronic music who were Latin American women, and it’s available to pre-order through Contingent Sounds and you’ll be able to get your hands on it on March 3rd. It’s called Switched On: The Dawn of Electronic Sound by Latin American Women and it’ll tell you all about artists such as Alicia Urreta, Beatriz Ferreyra, Elsa Justel and Eulalia Bernard.

These are new names to us too, so don’t worry – don’t feel daft for not know – every day’s a school day isn’t it?

The book was put together by Buh Records founder Luis Alvarado and Peruvian artist Alejandra Cárdenas (Ale Hop) from Contingent Sounds. It’s all cool experimental stuff, and it’s looking at some of the vital work done by those who clearly are in dire need of a spotlight shining on them. Have a look on the website, pre-order, get involved, here.
