JAHNAH CAMILLE’S COOL TAKE ON GRUNGE POP

Look, we can’t lie – we think a lot of shoegaze and grunge is pretty crappy, and the newer versions of them that’s been doing the rounds hasn’t been too great either. Now, that’s not to say that there isn’t excellent shoegaze and grunge old and new – far from it. However, it’s all a bit Production Values Over Writing Songs, so when something is good, its worth cherishing, right?

While this isn’t classic, dyed-in-the-wool shoegaze, nor is it Albini-esque or whatever, there’s a dreamy quality to Jahnah Camille’s music that made us think that this was something of a neat take on the genres combined and importantly, the Alabama singer has remembered to write a cool song underneath all that fuzzy dreaminess.

There’s a debut EP due called ‘i tried to freeze light, but only remember a girl‘ and the lead track from it is called ‘Roadkill’ and we like it a lot. We’ll be updating our playlists that’s for sure.

A super charming track this so don’t sleep on it. Press play.
