Aphex Twin and Warp Records were teasing stuff, and eagle-eyed fans spotted pretty quickly that it was something to do with ‘Selected Ambient Works Vol II’, and as it’s the 30th anniversary imminent, it was obvious there was a new version of it coming out. That’s still good news though, for electronic music heads!
This new version will be available as a 4xLP set (and a 3xCD set too) and there’ll be a super deluxe version too which is gonna cost you. One for the affluent die-hards, obvs.
They’ll be available on October 4th and there’ll be pre-sales and all that jazz – you know how these things work, you’re not stupid even if you sometimes look it. The box set will have posters, stickers, a fancy booklet and all housed in a hinged oak case with a copper plate – it genuinely looks like a very lovely thing if you’re looking at splashing out. Have a listen to ‘You can listen to ‘#19’ from it now, which used to be a vinyl-only affair. And can we say, original vinyl pressings of this weren’t the best, so this reissue will be welcome for the audiophiles out there.
