Look, we don’t quite know what’s happening but we’ll share the news all the same. On Brian Wilson’s Instagram page, it basically says that coming this Friday, is ‘Ding Dang’.

We had a little search on Google for ‘Brian Wilson Ding Dang’, and all it came up with was a link to his website which sadly for us, requires a password. We tried ‘dingdang’ as a password, it didn’t work, we gave up because we’re meant to wait ’til Friday and we will be obedient for our Brian.

Now, for Beach Boy lovers, you’ll know ‘Ding Dang’ is a super short gem from the cult-favourite ‘Love You’ LP, and it was written when Brian turned up at Roger McGuinn’s house looking for speed. They wrote the song together, and Al Jardine says that it came about thanks to Brian’s obsession with the song ‘Shortenin’ Bread’.

Wilson said in 2000 that ‘Ding Dang’ was one of his faves, saying “it was a good cut, wasn’t it? Just a very short song, that’s all. One of the shortest records we have ever made.”

Is it a boxset? Is it merch? Is it a Brian solo compilation of some sort? We don’t know, but it’s Brian Wilson fercryinoutloud, we’re interested in whatever the hell it is!
