If you’re a fan of Jon Hopkins and his ambient things, you’re in luck! He’s just shared a preview of the new LP ‘RITUAL’, which we think is meant to be in CAPS, but it shouldn’t be, because it’d be more ambient to have it lower case.

Anyway, as this is ambient, we have to use a lot of silly metaphors to describe what’s going on.

The album is out August 30th, and apparently, it brings together ‘ceremonial’ themes into one ‘epic’, as part of Hopkins attempts to immerse with other facets of ‘mind and body’. If anyone’s been to any of his recent immersive experiences, then you’ll know what this is all about. They were called the ‘Dreamachine’ and you can look that up. Silly words aside, they look pretty cool.

Hopkins sez: “In 2022, I was commissioned to compose for a project called Dreamachine* – a beautiful immersive experience created by a team of artists, scientists, and philosophers, which was experienced by tens of thousands of people throughout 2022 and beyond as it continues to tour. RITUAL (palace) is an evolution of the music I composed for that project. I am so grateful to all those involved.”
