Cher has lived enough to fill a thousand lives – so it is great news to hear that she has been beavering away on her laptop (or dictating it to someone else while eating grapes and doing pilates) to give us all the details of her life so far in memoir form.
Or rather, memoirs plural, as the first part will be dropping onto shelves in November this year. Titled ‘Cher: The Memoir, Part One’ (not that imaginative, but y’know, it’s Cher and she can do what she wants), the first book will look at her early life, relationship with Sonny Bono and her stratospheric rise to fame in the ’60s.
There’s going to be talk of her chaotic upbringing, her dyslexia, and all the talk of how she made it in the ’60s and ’70s – and you’d hope there’s huge dollops of righteous ire and gossip too, because that’s exactly what memoirs are good for. And she’ll have good lawyers to clear the good stories. That, or she’ll be levelling things at people who are dead and the dead can’t sue, right?
There’s also talk of turning her story into a movie too, but apparently, Cher rejected a script from Oscar winning writer Eric Roth already, so we’ll just have to wait and see about that.
Until all this, all we have to share is the cover for her new book, which features a really wonderful photo of Cher with her famous bangs and eye-make-up. Very nice indeed.
