We don’t know everything and daily, we stumble across things completely new to us and think “OH! THAT’S INTERESTING!” Today, is one such day with a piece of music that is almost completely alien to us, but we listened to it half a dozen times and figured it needed sharing.
The artist is Leila Abdul-Rauf who is new to us, but if you’ve listen to Vastum, Ionophore, Cardinal Wyrm, Fyrhtu, and others, you may be familiar with their work. A cursory glance, it would seem she’s rather prolific and hard-working, and there’s a fifth solo album due called ‘Calls From A Seething Edge’.
The new single is called ‘Crimes of the Soul’ and it’s a violently sludgy, doom-laden, detuned psychedelic drone thing that’s menacing, gothic and very much its own thing. As this isn’t the type of stuff we’re regularly listening to, you’ll have to make your own mind up by playing it because we’re not going to be able to write SEO friendly copy about this – but then, listening to this music, it isn’t exactly concerning itself with that type of nonsense anyway.
Press play. Get weird with yourself.
