SPRING SILVER / PRINCE MEETS INDIE

We all love Prince, so any trace of the Purple One’s music is always a treat since he departed. Usually, Prince influence means clean twangy guitars and a falsetto over some digital funk, and it’s not always something that ends in great results because… well… not everyone is able to be Prince, right?

No such drama here because we listened to Spring Silver’s new song and it reminded us of Prince rather than being a lame photocopy of it, mixing it with US indie punk and it works very well indeed. Hooky, inventive, fun and a whole lot to love about it. It’s called ‘It’s Imperative’ and the video is a boat load of joy too.

Honestly, it’s really fun to hear someone twisting indie music out of shape a bit as lately, it’s tended to veer between moody post-punk or cursively sung songwritery stuff. This is very much neither of these things and that’s something that should absolutely be championed. All that’s left for you to do is press play, honestly.
