We don’t know much about Nicole Miglis, but we’ve heard some hype. Now, hype can be a terrible, terrible thing – but it also sometimes just means that people are excited about something new, so lets lean into the latter and go with the good flow shall we?
Miglis has a new LP tomorrow which has got a number of people champing at the bit, and on the strength of this new single – ‘Sleep All Day’ – it is easy to see why. It’s a brooding, analogue synthy, ambient pop thing which reminds us a little of the majestic Ana Roxanne and a very distant echo of The Cocteau Twins. But it’s also a bit Komische and a baroque too. It’s an ambitious and unique little thing.
Previous single ‘Lure’ (which we listened to immediately after a few rounds with this new one) is a more schizophrenic affair and very, very good too.
The debut solo album goes by the name of ‘Myopia’ and we’ll no doubt be reviewing it once we’ve given it a few listens. Press play on the video below, do yourself a favour.
