WORDS ABOUT MUSIC + POP CULTURE

DANIELLE MOORE, RIP

Aged 52, Danielle Moore the lead singer of Crazy P, has sadly died. Moore’s cause of death has not been shared, and honestly, it’s not our business so we shall do our best to celebrate her life.

In a statement posted to Instagram, her fellow bandmates wrote, “We cannot believe the news ourselves and we know it will be the same for all of you. She gave us so much and we love her so much. Our hearts are broken. We need time to process that this has happened. Danielle lived a life driven by love, compassion, community and music. She lived the biggest of lives. We will miss her with all our hearts.”

Many have paid tribute online, with Faithless producer Sister Bliss stating: “She was just the best,” with Paper Recordings adding “We are heartbroken to hear the news about Danielle Moore, one of the most talented singers, songwriters and performers of her generation. She will leave a huge hole in the hearts of everyone she touched through her music and friendship. Danni was incredibly generous, funny, empathetic, positive and quite simply a wonderful human being. The world has lost one of its shining stars. We will miss her terribly. All our love goes out to her friends and family.”

Moore was a product of the Haçienda saying “I had my really seminal dancefloor moments there – I could dance how I wanted and feel so myself.” This was evident in the spirit in which she would perform with Crazy P, where she’s said that “performing is everything.”

Away from singing, she was a prolific DJ and of her life, she told Disco Pogo “I know I’m so lucky with my life. Would I swap those travels and memories and music for anything? Would I fuck!”
