First off, let us give the band their proper name – Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek – it doesn’t fit nicely in a headline, but whatever, this is one of the best bands on Planet Earth right now, mixing funk and psychedelic rock with Turkish, Anatolian music. We’ve written excitedly about them before.

The group have a new single out called ‘Cool Hand’ and it’s fantastic and, better yet, available on 45 too via Big Crown Records. On production duties is the brilliant El Michels Affair, and on the flip you’ll hear ‘Yakamoz’ too.

Of course, you’ll hear Derya’s incredible vocals and Saz playing, but as ever underneath, irresistible groovy, funky Turkish beat. Big Crown have it for sale on their site, but for those not Stateside, have a look in your favourite indie store or put an order in. It is available to stream everywhere you do that.
