We don’t know much about Gia Ford, but we heard this new song from her called ‘Earth Return’ and it’s really good. We think this might fall under ‘alt-pop’, but we’re not sure of some of these genres – not that they matter!

We’re hearing some gloomy ace old French pop, a smidge of Lana Del Rey, a whiff of the Cocteau Twins maybe… it’s all moot really, and we’re doing a bad job of selling this to you, but you should definitely press play on the track below. We’re keen to hear more on the strength of this, that’s for certain.

Talking to the NME, Ford said of the song: “‘Earth Return’ was born out of the desire to be in your most loved place when you die,” Ford said in a press release. “For me, that’s around where my grandparents lived, in the Hope Valley in Derbyshire, whenever I’m there I feel at ease with everything; as if, I died there right then, it’d be the right thing, and that my spirit would be among my family and even the spirits of versions of me, me as a child, running around there.”
