Checking the local listings we saw a band name that we thought was brash and fun. Then, we read an article about Of Montreal doing some gigs in the States and, there they were again – cumgirl8. We had to check them out based on the name and Of Montreal shows, of course.

Who are they? Well, the official bio on 4AD’s page says:

“cumgirl8 met in a sex chat 8000 years ago in another metaverse. Made up of Lida Fox (bass), Veronika Vilim (guitar), Chase Lombardo (drums), and Avishag Rodrigues (guitar), the band started as an art collective in 2019 before coming together to create a boundary-less sound, drawing from the likes of ESG, Cocteau Twins, Suicide, CSS, B-52s, The Shangri-Las, Chris & Cosey, Madonna, and many more.“

Great influences, not taking things too seriously and a member called ‘Avishag’? They’ve been kicking around a little while it turns out, and they’ve got a song called ‘ahhh!hhhh! (i don’t wanna go)’, which is as silly as it gets.
