Jade Thirlwall continues to be an absolute treat as her solo career continues in the cuntiest of manners. We’ve already sung her praises, wondering if she’s the most interesting popstar we have, and this single only underlines that notion a little harder.
She’s got a new single out called ‘IT Girl’ and it’ll be on the new album you assume, following on from ‘Angel of my Dreams’, and the brilliant ‘Midnight Cowboy’.
While a lot of pop aims toward disco of late, Jade’s throwing herself into UK clubland and sleazy electroclash, which is exactly what we need in 2025, and this track apparently deals with “her experiences in the music industry and the often ruthless and complex nature of fame.” If X Factor and the like is entertainment asbestos, Jade is here to hold an inquiry about it.
She said: “IT girl is the cunty little sister to ‘Angel of my Dreams’. There’s still so much that people don’t know about me, so I was eager to surprise people and prod the bear a bit. I have to write about my experiences in my own melodramatic way. I’m not going to sugarcoat it.”
“Sign on the line for me / Baby, smile, but don’t show your teeth / Say ‘Goodbye’ to autonomy / Now your body belongs to me.”
