DRAKE QUIETLY DROPS KENDRICK LAWSUIT

Remember Drake throwing out a lawsuit, snitching on Kendrick and Universal Music Group, in one of the most laughed-out-of-town events of 2024? The lawsuit was dissected by lawyers online, and everyone suggested it was all a terrible idea.

Well, the Canadian performer claimed that the success of ‘Not Like Us’ had been “artificially inflated” in streaming numbers, while Lamar basically called him a nonce in front of everyone, leaving ol’ Drake wondering which thing to attack.

Effectively, Drake was gunning for a new version of payola, this time, including bots in the accusation, with the writ saying “the record-shattering spread of ‘Not Like Us’ on streaming, sales, and radio play was deliberate and appears to have relied upon irregular and inappropriate business practices.”

Anyone living in the real world saw the salty rebuke from Kendrick going viral all by itself, as we all got to indulge in some old fashioned beef, and fantastic pettiness.

Drake may have got wind of how bad this whole thing was looking, or maybe they’ve just done their due diligence and satisfied everything is above board, but his legal team have withdrawn the filing and put an end to the case.

Drake met with Spotify and Universal representatives this week to discuss the case, and everyone just walked away from it.

As it stands, ‘Not Like Us’ already has over a billion plays. That’s got to hurt.

And Kendrick? Well, it is rumoured that he’ll do a feature on the new Clipse LP, and of course, that’s the group that features Pusha T, who notoriously outed Drake for having a secret child in his beef with Drake.

Drake is off on tour in Australia, which is notably very, very far away from the United States of America where everyone seems to be giving him a kicking.

Rough.
