HAYLEY WILLIAMS GRANDPA HAS A ’70S GEM OUT

Paramore have been all conquering in recent years, and now, they’ve joined forces to help the release of Hayley Williams’ grandfather, who has an album out which he recorded in the ’70s.

Rusty Williams is now nearly 80s, and recorded his album decades ago, and they’re singer-songwritery, folkie, West Coast mellow goodness. They’ve been unreleased this entire times, but now they’re seeing the light of day.

And sure, you might be thinking that this is some kind of Uno reverse nepo nonsense, but if you’re choosing joy, it is really lovely that Hayley’s pop stature has helped some cool music see the light of day.

She didn’t know they existed until recently and went on a bit of a mission to get them heard in the world, and Paramore drummer Zac Farro happens to have a little record label called Congrats Records, so he put it out.

Joyful stuff.

The album is called ‘Grand Man’ and you’ll be able to hear it Feb 14th, and thankfully, there’s a track called ‘Knocking (At Your Door)’ which you can listen to right now.

We like it a lot.

“I didn’t expect anything, and I’m too old to be famous,” Rusty Williams said. “But I just want to know someone liked what I did, and to be touched by whatever the hell they are listening to. I want people to see how it felt when things were real.”

Hayley had in fact sampled one of his songs on the excellent ‘Petals For Armour’ LP, but this is the first time we get to hear grandpa’s songs in full.
