Have you heard Ted Lucas’ eponymous acid-folk LP from 1975? It’s super good and, if you’re not able to get your mitts on an original copy, the good news is that there’ll be a reissue that’s more readily available.
The album is getting reissued next month through the labour-of-love’ists at Third Man, and as well as a nice sleeve, bright colours, modern mastering and all that good stuff, there’ll also be previously unreleased bits on it too.
That’s more bang for your buck, which is always nice. Third Man do a nice job with these things too.
Lucas was a notable head in Detroit counterculture circles, and his self-titled LP is regarded as a lost classic – definitely one that deserved more love at the time of release. In recent years, it got that love, and Third Man say the album has been “an open secret for years” and Lucas being “one of those artists you just have to know.”
“Working with the Lucas family and our friends at Yoga Records, this definitive all-analog new edition of “The OM Album” is just the beginning. Available on black vinyl, indie exclusive green vinyl, and extended digital album on February 21st.”
