Instead of shrugging at the inevitability of everything being bad in the world of music, maybe we could all take a few minutes out of our day, to contribute to the future of it.
If you want to have your say about the state – and future – of live music, then you’re invited to throw your penny in for a 15 minute survey, detailing things like dynamic ticket pricing, touts, and all that stuff that drives everyone mad.
This kind of thing has been done before, with things like football fans and the club scene.
This has been commissioned by Greater Manchester Combined Authority, The Mayor of London, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, West Midlands Combined Authority, Tees Valley Combined Authority, Cardiff City Council, Belfast City Council and Glasgow City of Music.
With the UK losing a lot of live venues, it’s important work and this also comes on the back of the Music Venue Trust presenting their findings to Parliament of their 2024 annual report.
Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham noted that “music is nothing without its fans”, and encouraged gig-goers to participate, while Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram said “feedback from this will be invaluable as we work together across city regions to create an environment where live music can continue to thrive for generations to come.”
