The story of Duffy’s sudden absence from music is one of the most heartbreaking stories in pop. For those who missed the news, she opened up about a tremendously upsetting ordeal, where she spoke about being kidnapped, held hostage, being drugged and raped.
Duffy had retreated from the world of music to rightly recover and she’s since said that she’s doing well, while taking time to heal.
Since the attack, Duffy noted that she’d spent “almost 10 years completely alone”, apart from time with a psychologist, and now, felt able to “leave this decade behind,” adding: “I very much doubt I will ever be the person people once knew”.
However, in what is hugely positive news, the ‘Warwick Avenue’ singer seems to be making tentative steps back into the music world. There’s a new UKG remix of her smash ‘Mercy’, and over on TikTok, Duffy was seen lip-syncing to the new version of the song.

It is great to see Duffy coming back – of all the ’60s influenced singers of the time, she always felt like one of the more authentic ones, and if this is the first steps of any kind of comeback, this is genuinely great news.
