WORDS ABOUT MUSIC + POP CULTURE

TURNSTILE ON Es?

Turnstile aren’t like other hard rock groups – you can hear the breadth of their influences on their records, as they clearly listen to more than just punk – there’s electronics, jazz, psychedelic indie, shoegaze and more in the mix, and they’re all the better for it.

With that, we’re pretty convinced now that they like Balearic, because their latest single absolutely hums of having enjoyed a delicious ecstasy tablet or two (apologies to the band if they’re straight-edge – we’ve not looked it up).

It’s synthy, blissy and more, before it segues into their trademark heavy guitars (although not as heavy as some previous outings). The track is called ‘NEVER ENOUGH’, which we think is the title of the new album too.

The album is out on June 6th and you can pre-save it and all that good stuff – go find out for yourself by checking their socials, obviously.

They’ve said the new album (according to a press release) “is a restless and exhilarating evolution of the band’s genre-defying sound” that is “a transformative journey, both fearless and alive, by one of the most forward-thinking and influential bands of their generation”.

Press releases are hard to write. You’ve got to stoke the flames of enthusiasm, but you can sound like a berk doing it. Needless to say, it’s worth getting excited about the album, but we’ll all collectively decide whether we like it or not when it comes out.

Same as it ever was.

Anyway, want to listen to this new track? All the Turnstile fans have had their way with it for 24 hours or so, but now it’s your turn if you’re new to them.
