10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU THE MUSICAL

10 Things I Hate About You is a fine teen movie and the popularity of it has only grown in recent years, thanks to a mildly angsty Gen X current that runs through it. Local bylaws state that you have to point out it is based on Shakespeare too.

Well, looks like its going to Broadway and Carly Rae Jepsen is involved! So too, is Lena Dunham.

There’s no date for any premiere, there’s no cast announcements or anything like that, but Carly Rae’s made a couple of albums that are cool enough that this is exciting news. She’s co-writing the score with producer Ethan Gruska.

Dunham will co-write the play with Jessica Huang. Also, for Broadway nerds, Tony-winning director and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon will be involved, and so too, music supervisor Tom Kitt. Add to this, Mike Bosner who was behind the Carole King musical.

Anyway, shout out to Julia Stiles who is all incredibly magnanimous and gracious about being in the movie version, and if there’s a press run and any cameos on stage, you know she’s going to be game.

And also shout out to Stiles absolutely being one of the first times a load of kids will have heard Biggie.
