Motörhead are great and everyone knows that. What is really great is the announcement that the ‘The Manticore Tapes’ are getting released. Or, if you prefer, their first-ever recording session that they ever did!
That is to say, the first recording by Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke, and Philthy Animal, which was undertaken at Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s Manticore Studio in August 1976. You’ll be able to hear the session for yourselves on June 27th, and there’ll be standard and deluxe versions, the latter including the live cut ‘Blitzkreig on Birmingham ’77’ and more.
The tapes were found, dusted off, and now we get to hear the Three Amigos going at it and, this is the best bit, you can hear them right now with the Manticore version of the band’s eponymous track… and it sounds fantastic!
