There’s something very wholesome and pure about Saint Etienne. That’s not to say they’re weedy nerds or anything, but their love of pop is an admirable thing, so the mere mention of them makes you feel all gooey, and that’s to be celebrated.
So with that, they’ve shared a new song called ‘Take Me To The Pilot’ which features Orbital, which is again, just a lovely thing to relay. Xenomania are producers on the album too – it’s all so great!
Pete Wiggs says: “Back in 1990, after Bob had written a piece on Orbital, the Hartnoll brothers kindly let us see their stage setup, we hadn’t done anything live yet and were slightly mystified. I think we remained so. Years later, now much wiser, I was reintroduced to Paul at a party in Hove, where I now live. We kept bumping into each other on the seafront, got chatting, and although I wasn’t sure he’d say yes, I asked if he’d be up for writing a song with us. He did – and we love it!”
Have a listen to this.
