Eagle eyed Beatle fans had noticed that, on Spotify, ‘Free As A Bird’ suddenly had the addition of ‘(1995 Mix)’, which got everyone muttering.

This obviously meant that there was going to be an updated mix, presumably employing the improved sound separation technology we saw with the ‘Now And Then’ single.

seems to be hinting at a new announcement involving The Beatles famous anthology series, The Beatles Anthology.

Then, days later Paul McCartney’s social channels, Beatles platforms and mailouts, started dropping teasers.

Each missive consisted of four images, each of which contained the isolated numbers “1”, “2”, “3” and “4.”

You’ll notice the extra number there, as previously, there were only three anthologies.

There is no date for an announcement proper, nor a release, but this is all very exciting for Beatle nuts, who will never tire of outtakes and tidbits.

We hope that there’ll be a remaster of the superb TV show documentary that accompanied the records, which we’ll likely see on Disney+.

The original documentary was released in November 1995, and is still one of the finest and most thorough deep dives into any band’s back catalogue and history.
