WORDS ABOUT MUSIC + POP CULTURE

BAD BUNNY VS ICE

Bad Bunny’s world tour ruffled some feathers when the date announcements showed no US stops. Of course, fans were disappointed, but it’s pretty obvious why he wasn’t going to perform on the mainland.

We all guessed it, but now he’s confirmed that he won’t be playing shows due to the real fear that ICE may raid his show, waiting outside the venues to round up his fans. Of course, a huge number of his supporters are of Latin descent.

His forthcoming ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ tour will showcase the music from the aforementioned album which is one of the high cultural watermarks of 2025 already, and fans in the United States are the ones missing out.

Talking to i-D mag, when asked about the lack of US dates, and if it was out of concern about the deportations of Latinos, he said: “Honestly, yes. There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate – I’ve performed there many times. All have been successful. All of them have been magnificent.”

“But there was the issue of – like, fucking ICE could be outside. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

Bad Bunny has already been a vocal critic of the immigration raids ushered in by Donald Trump and his Republicans, and the performer said he’d witnessed an ICE raid in Puerto Rico in summer, stating; “look, those motherfuckers are in these cars, RAV-4s – they’re here in Pontezuela. Sons of bitches, instead of leaving the people alone and working there.”

Bunny’s tour will instead, stop in Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America, and it’s obviously a shame that his US fans won’t be able to see the tour in their hometown, but those in the Latin American community will understand why, better than anyone else.
