The trap sound has, regrettably, started sounding a bit old hat, leaving young rappers looking elsewhere for inspo.

And so, to Redveil, who has a new one out which is a swirly, classic soul sampling track which reminds us of cool Stones Throw stuff from the early ’00s and an echo of Dilla too.

A couple of years ago, Redveil was pretty prolific, but we’ve not heard much since 2022’s ‘learn 2 swim’.

If this new single means a full length piece of work is coming out, then the signs are good!
