Many artists move toward the glitz and glamour while chasing the dream – but Rico Nasty’s time in California saw her wondering if she’d lost sight of what she was good at – notably, trap hip hop that’s designed to be played loud.
“Shout out to the DMV for that eight count – we listened to a bunch of Baby Jamo and SlimeGetEm” she says, continuing: “I opened up to Kenny (Blume, who produces) about how living in California made me feel like I lost the essence of trap music so I tapped into some of the artists I was listening to and just made a Rico version.”
“When we made it, it wasn’t supposed to come out because it was almost like a warm up record. After playing it for a lot of friends and playing it on some nights out, I realized it was much more than that. This song was just all around fun to make and I missed working with Kenny and watching the songs be built from start to finish.”
