The UK underground has been bubbling with drum ‘n’ bass and it’s offshoots for a while now, and some of it is really cool, with a fresh twist on things, like the new single from FAUZIA, called ‘My Way’.
You may recognise the name from the long stint with NTS radio, with her long running show. However, there’s been a pivot toward making her own music. There’s been downbeat stuff, upbeat stuff – it’s all been pretty interesting so far!
This one kicks off spacious, ethereal even, before we get to a smart junglist drop – and the B-Side is more trip-hop(ish).
FAUZIA says: “The songs represent the different sides of me as an artist; it’s a reflection of all my musical interests. I was having a shit day before I met with Chanthila [Phaophanithanit, video director] and I almost cancelled. But we ended up having such a nice day getting to know each other and going around London.”
“The video is very reflective of me as a person, which I think is quite introverted and someone who tries to avoid being seen. I don’t like being the subject or centre of attention so I wanted to create something that shows me in day to day life.”
Get on this.
