Beach Boys ‘Love You’ has seen a huge reappraisal in recent years, and rumours of a box set or deluxe treatment were rife in recent months.
Who knew then, that what would be appearing was the first official release of lost Brian piece ‘Adult/Child’ too? Massive news!
The set is called ‘We Gotta Groove’ and the official blurb says:
Expansive collection based around Brian Wilson’s return to The Beach Boys’ studio projects, which resulted in 1977’s critically acclaimed and beloved cult classic, THE BEACH BOYS LOVE YOU.
The new package features a newly remastered version of LOVE YOU along with spotlighting a plethora of studio outtakes, demos, and alternate mixes. Included are key tracks from 1976’s 15 BIG ONES sessions, LOVE YOU — as well as for the first time, the until-now unreleased Brian Wilson-produced 1977 ADULT/CHILD album.
Adult/Child was meant to be the follow up to Love You, and at the time, Dennis Wilson told a reporter, “It is the strangest album I’ve ever heard. [Brian]’s vocals are the best I’ve ever heard him. I’m elated with the new album, it’s really gonna be a surprise. I don’t know where it’s coming from, but it’s positive, again.”
It has been available as a bootleg for years, and often referred to as being an Outsider album, but this is the first official release so there’s lots of reasons to get excited!
