De La Soul – bright clothes, witty, funny hip hop. They ushered in the Daisy Age and… well… they’ve always seemed pretty miserable since then haven’t they?
One of the reasons they’ve been so moody is streaming. They just want to get paid and be treated fairly don’t they? That’s fair. They’ve also taken to going on about “real” hip hop at shows and looking curmudgeonly BUT we’ll always have those first two LPs eh?
Anyway, if your Golden Era playlist has been missing your favourite De La Songs, then good news – they’ll soon be back on your favourite service.
When? March 3rd, apparently.
This news is via their social media and their website in a message that simply said “De La Soul streaming on 3/3/23” and there’s been some big neon billboards and such. Sounds legit.
De La Soul were bored of legal proceedings, uncleared samples and all that jazz, and previously, had thought ‘fukkit’ and just gave everything away for free in massive digital bundles.
Either way, all good fun and we’ll get to listen to some cool music nice and loud. Delightful stuff.
And here’s a digital version of one of their best tracks which almost makes a mockery of this whole endeavour, but whaddayagonnado?
