This summer, King Charles III will be getting fitted with a new hat and of course, us loyal servants will be allowed to stop averting our eyes for the day to look directly at a man who is still called Prince Charles really. Of course, like all public holiday things, the 24 hour news channels will be going into overdrive, while Nicholas Witchell once again, afforded another full erection.
There’ll also be a big gig too, for all the bootlickers to attend and the scabs to play.
Of course, there’ll be demand for attending this nonsense, so a ballot has been opened, so all the cockneys and Yank tourists can boogie on down at Windsor Castle. There’ll be 10,000 of the free tickets and it’ll be taking place on May 7th. Remember that date in case some grim relative invites you round and springs a street party on you.
Naturally, the concert will be shown on the telly and the BBC have said the show will feature “musical icons and contemporary stars”. God, it’ll be disappointing if one of your faves plays at it, eh? They better have not asked Macca. Brian May will probably show up, as he’s want to do.
The ballot will be open on February 28 and you can find out whatever you want about it here.
“Attended by a public audience including volunteers from The King and The Queen Consort’s many charity affiliations, the concert will see a world-class orchestra play interpretations of musical favourites fronted by fantastic entertainers, alongside performers from the world of dance and the arts,” the BBC said in a statement.
“The performances will be supported by staging and effects located on the Castle’s East Lawn and will also feature a selection of spoken word sequences delivered by stars of stage and screen.”
BBC chief content officer Charlotte Moore said: “The coronation concert on the BBC will bring the nation together to mark this momentous occasion and we are thrilled to be able to offer the public the opportunity to be part of the event at Windsor Castle through a national ballot, as well as providing audiences with exclusive coverage across TV and radio.”
Rumour has it that the Spice Girls will be playing as a five-piece for the occasion, which is kinda fun because Victoria Beckham is very camp and funny… and you just know Geri will be foaming at the mouth to do the show, what with her penchant for hyping up Margaret Thatcher and the Queen. sigh
Reckon Jess Glynne and Ellie Goulding will be there too? They feel like a right fit don’t they? But what music does Charlesy like then? We know he’s a fan of the Three Degrees and Sheila Ferguson.

Charlie once said that ‘Givin’ Up, Givin’ In‘ by The Three Degrees gives him “an irresistible urge to get up and dance”, which we can see above.
Once, talking about tunes on Hospital Radio, he said he like Babs Streisand’s ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’, ‘Upside Down’ by Diana Ross, Edith Piaf’s ‘La Vie En Rose’, as well as a load of folkie stuff. We’ll focus on some disco to sign off with.
