Chaka Khan has taken the gloves off and thrown immense shade at Mariah Carey and Adele. Now, if you’re visiting from some awful stan account or the point of view of a MEGA FAN, then go away already. See, this is pop music. We’re hear to have fun. We’re hear to enjoy the cattiness. Someone can get their claws out and – get this – it doesn’t detract from our enjoyment of anyone involved. It’s just daft fun.

We will have a serious point to make at some point in this article, even if you titter – that’s on you. We couldn’t possibly comment.

So, Chaka-Chaka-Chaka Khan was talking to Andrew Goldman on The Originals podcast. They were talking about Chaka being ranked number 29 on Rolling Stone’s list of The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time earlier this year. Notably, the people she was behind on the list.

Mariah was Number 5 and Chaka hooted: “That must be payola or some shit like that!” LOL. And Adele landed at 22 and Mary J Blige at 25: “Okay! I quit! These are blind bitches! They are blind as a motherfucking bat! They need hearing aids – these must be the children of Helen Keller!”

Helen Keller was blind and deaf and was a disability rights activist and more. That’s a bit tight. Anyway, onto Joan Baez at 198: “Let’s be honest, the bitch cannot sing! Now, she was a good writer…”

She was cool with Aretha topping the list and Whitney coming second: “Great… I’m the one who introduced her to Clive (Davis, music producer). And I introduced her to the business – I made her mother bring her down to the studio and sing background with me. Her and Luther Vandross. They both sang background for me on my albums.”

And Beyoncé? “I don’t have anything to say about Beyoncé. She’s a great singer… She’s got the chops.”

So not a fan of Rolling Stone’s list in general? Not quite: “I didn’t even know what the hell you were talking about, so obviously this doesn’t mean a great deal to me,” she added. “These people don’t quantify or validate me in any way.”
